Our History of Physiotherapy Gympie
Our director, Bek, started her physiotherapy Gympie work when she was with Queensland Health. From 2019 to 2021, Bek was part of the Community Service and Rehab Team that visited Gympie weekly. She worked with a team that included:
- Occupational Therapy
- Social Work
- Allied Health Assistant
- Speech Pathology
On Wednesday, they would see people at the Gympie Senior Citizen’s Centre on Mellor Street. They set- up a pop-up clinic complete with a physiotherapy bed and exercise equipment.
Gympie was a highlight
Bek loved her time at Gympie. She enjoyed meeting the Gympie community and finding salt-of-the-earth, genuine people. She loved working with the team to support people with stroke, balance issues, multiple sclerosis and other neurological conditions. Working on Wednesday was great, as she had the choice of lunch at Soma Soma or a delicious chicken salad sandwich and doughnut at the famous Mama Dee’s Kitchen.
Physiotherapy Gympie – meet Kira
SCNR service has an extensive reach – from Caboolture down South to Gympie up North and most of it in between. With such a large area to cover, our physiotherapist Kira now supports our Gympie clients. Kira is a local girl who grew up within 30 mins of Gympie. After some time working and studying in Melbourne, Kira has returned home. Like Bek, visiting Gympie is a highlight of her week.
